Investment art anchoring a corporate headquarters

Location Johannesburg, South Africa
Client Latitudes
Sector Corporate
Year 2024

Mirrored artworks in collaboration with celebrated artist Pebofatso Mokoena, paired with sculptural pieces by Talia Goldsmith. Investment art that anchors the Munich Re corporate headquarters in Johannesburg, creating a collection that reflects both corporate gravitas and contemporary South African artistry.

The Brief

Munich Re, one of the world's leading reinsurance companies, required an art programme for their Johannesburg headquarters that would convey permanence, sophistication, and a commitment to the South African creative landscape. Latitudes commissioned us to curate and produce a collection that would function as both investment art and a daily source of inspiration for the workforce.

The challenge was to balance corporate formality with artistic energy - creating pieces that would hold their value while sparking genuine engagement from staff and visitors.

Our Approach

We brought together two exceptional South African artists to create a layered collection. Pebofatso Mokoena's mirrored artworks play with reflection and perception, inviting viewers to see themselves within the work. His pieces challenge the boundary between observer and artwork, perfectly suited to the contemplative pace of a corporate environment.

Talia Goldsmith's sculptural pieces provide a three-dimensional counterpoint, adding tactile depth and material richness to the collection. Together, the works create a dialogue between surface and form, flatness and volume.

The Craft

The project brought together multiple artistic disciplines:

  • Mirrored artworks by Pebofatso Mokoena using reflective surfaces and mixed media
  • Sculptural pieces by Talia Goldsmith in metal and composite materials
  • Curated placement throughout executive floors, reception, and meeting areas
  • Investment-grade framing and conservation-quality mounting throughout

Each work was carefully positioned to interact with the building's natural light and sightlines, ensuring maximum visual impact while maintaining the professional atmosphere required of a global corporate headquarters.
